ABOUT DONNA

Donna Dufault has over 20+ years of experience working in the photography industry. She has a BFA degree in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has worked at some of the best photographic printing labs in the country and worked with some of the top art photographers in the world. This experience coupled with years of gallery experience, running art marketing groups, curating shows, and co-coordinating photo workshops has given her a unique perspective into the fine art photography world.

The last 15+ years she has been working as a photographer side by side with her husband, Scott Erb, in their commercial advertising photography business, Erb/Dufault Photography – www.erbphoto.com. Where they specialized in Food and Hospitality Photography.

Both were founding partners in the endeavor, Foodies of New England Magazine, which they started in Oct 2012 with a small group of friends. (now defunct) The magazine was in over 2500+ locations for sale all over New England. They loved being the photographers for Foodies of New England Magazine and they have had many, many culinary adventures. With their speciality being in Food and Hospitality Photography, they continue to travel and photograph amazing foods, chefs, and locations all over the country.

Much of Donna’s work is derived from these adventures and is significantly influenced by the amazing chefs, unique items seen along the way, and places she has visited over the years.

Special Announcement 2023:

After an incredible two decades + of building relationships with amazing local clients, Scott and Donna have decided it’s time to travel the country. So, They recently sold their home and studio and have been embarking on an adventure that could last a year or more!

Yes! They are still doing photography from the road. As well as offering workshops. So

If you know anyone who needs a traveling brand ambassador or looking for headshots or portraits, or maybe you know someone in another city that could be a great connection for them, they kindly ask that you please keep them in mind and introduce them! They appreciate any recommendations.

And please keep your eyes on all their social media channels—always looking to make connections, collaborate and meet new people while out there exploring new places together!

We’ll be doing lots of art work, headshots, product photos, branding photography, food photography, etc.

The Art of Aging Gracefully
This silver spoon has been through it—dented, scratched, and dulled by years of use. But there’s a quiet beauty in how it holds itself, no longer shiny, but still strong. I’ve paired it with vibrant purple flowers and dried grasses to bring out a contrast—life and age, new and old. The textures tell a story, and so does the spoon. It’s a reminder that we’re allowed to change, to wear down a little, to collect our own dents. Just like this spoon, we can accept the parts of us that aren’t perfect anymore. We don’t lose value with time; we gain character.

World Kindness Day – Be Kind to Yourself, Too
Today is World Kindness Day, a day to reflect on how we treat others—but let’s not forget to extend that kindness to ourselves. We’re often so quick to offer compassion to others, yet we hold ourselves to impossible standards. This spoon image shows a group of tarnished and imperfect ones. It reminds me that we all carry a bit of wear. The spoons aren’t shiny and new, but their disarray makes them more interesting, more real. So why not treat yourself with the same understanding? You don’t need to be flawless to be worthy of kindness—especially your own.

Seaside Finds: A Little Escape
This spoon has seen better days—scratched, dented, and more than a little worn. But I’ve paired it with tiny seashells, soft pinks and yellows, a small piece of coral, and a mini starfish tucked right into the center. Together, they create this feeling of being near the ocean, like a quiet reminder of those peaceful places we can all go to in our minds when we need a break. It’s funny how something so imperfect can still feel so calming. Maybe it’s the ocean colors, or maybe you can take it as a reminder that we don’t need to be flawless to find a sense of peace. Take this as a small nudge to embrace your own dents and scratches—you’re still capable of creating your own calm, even on the rough days. Where is your calm place? Seaside? Somewhere else?

Gold, But Make It... Tolerable
So, confession time: I’m not a huge fan of gold. It’s a little too much, too flashy, and well... too gold. But when I found this golden ladle (and a few other gold bits from Loot in Turners Falls), I felt like I had to go full-on vintage decadence. I mean, look at it—it practically demands to be admired! I wasn’t sure how to handle all this opulence, but I gave it my best shot, crafting a composition to make it feel elegant... or at least, less overwhelming for someone like me who prefers, let’s say, a bit more subtlety. Is it my favorite? Not really. But you know what? I have to admit, it shines brightly despite my personal aversion. Sometimes, even the things we don’t love can surprise us.

Be honest—what’s your “golden ladle”? Something you can’t stand, but grudgingly admit looks pretty good? Or do you have something flashy you secretly can’t stand but somehow still keep around? (Be nice people!)

Rust, Time, and a Ladle That Won’t Let Go
Some things, like this ladle, don’t let go of their beauty easily—even as they rust, flake, and become completely impractical. It’s heavy, degraded, and frankly wouldn’t survive a single serving of soup, but somehow, the rust has made it more fascinating. Rust is like nature’s quiet artist, slowly taking over and leaving behind this rich, textured canvas. There’s something about the way decay becomes art that stops you for a second. It’s a reminder that beauty doesn’t fade—it just changes form. Sure, this ladle is useless, but it’s got more personality than anything you’ll find in a store. After all, when was the last time your kitchenware had a story worth telling?

Special thank you to @ddapice for lending me this treasure he found while metal detecting.

Learning to Love the Whole Story
We spend so much time thinking about what we want to change—about ourselves, about our past. But what if the goal wasn’t to fix, but to embrace? Like the spoons I photograph, each mark, each scar, tells a story. It’s a record of resilience, not something to be polished away. Just like these spoons, we are works of art, shaped by time, by use, by love. Learning to love ourselves isn’t about being perfect; it’s about embracing the whole story.
