ABOUT DONNA

Donna Dufault has over 20+ years of experience working in the photography industry. She has a BFA degree in Fine Art Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology. She has worked at some of the best photographic printing labs in the country and worked with some of the top art photographers in the world. This experience coupled with years of gallery experience, running art marketing groups, curating shows, and co-coordinating photo workshops has given her a unique perspective into the fine art photography world.

The last 15+ years she has been working as a photographer side by side with her husband, Scott Erb, in their commercial advertising photography business, Erb/Dufault Photography – www.erbphoto.com. Where they specialized in Food and Hospitality Photography.

Both were founding partners in the endeavor, Foodies of New England Magazine, which they started in Oct 2012 with a small group of friends. (now defunct) The magazine was in over 2500+ locations for sale all over New England. They loved being the photographers for Foodies of New England Magazine and they have had many, many culinary adventures. With their speciality being in Food and Hospitality Photography, they continue to travel and photograph amazing foods, chefs, and locations all over the country.

Much of Donna’s work is derived from these adventures and is significantly influenced by the amazing chefs, unique items seen along the way, and places she has visited over the years.

Special Announcement 2023:

After an incredible two decades + of building relationships with amazing local clients, Scott and Donna have decided it’s time to travel the country. So, They recently sold their home and studio and have been embarking on an adventure that could last a year or more!

Yes! They are still doing photography from the road. As well as offering workshops. So

If you know anyone who needs a traveling brand ambassador or looking for headshots or portraits, or maybe you know someone in another city that could be a great connection for them, they kindly ask that you please keep them in mind and introduce them! They appreciate any recommendations.

And please keep your eyes on all their social media channels—always looking to make connections, collaborate and meet new people while out there exploring new places together!

We’ll be doing lots of art work, headshots, product photos, branding photography, food photography, etc.

We live in a world that constantly demands perfection—perfect photos, perfect homes, perfect lives. But my art is a quiet rebellion against that idea.

My worn spoons are scratched, tarnished, and often discarded, yet they hold a kind of beauty that perfection can’t touch. They remind me that there’s power in rejecting the idea that we need to be flawless to be valuable.

What if we celebrated our “flaws” instead of hiding them? What if we saw them as proof of a life well-lived?

Comment and share: What’s one “flaw” you’ve come to love about yourself?

Let’s rewrite what beauty means—together.

Time shapes things...These spoons have their tarnish and dents - these aren’t signs of decline; they’re evidence of life, proof that they’ve endured.

It’s a comforting thought: that as time shapes us, it doesn’t take away from our beauty—it enhances it, deepens it, makes it richer.

What about you? Do you feel more beautiful now than you did a decade ago?

Comment below to share your thoughts with me. I’d love to know how time has shaped your idea of beauty. #RedefineBeauty #redefinebeauty #redefinebeauty_ #redefinebeautyyy

Have you ever looked at something so closely that you saw it in an entirely new way?

When I started photographing worn spoons, it wasn’t because they were beautiful in the traditional sense. It was because I saw something in them that others often overlooked: their flaws. Scratches, dents, tarnish—all the things that made them "imperfect" were, to me, what made them truly extraordinary.

This shift in perspective transformed the way I see everything—not just objects, but people, moments, and even myself.

What might happen if you looked at the "imperfections" in your life differently?

Have you ever felt like your imperfections—those little scars and marks life leaves behind - are what make you most beautiful? I think about this often when I’m photographing worn spoons.
Take this one, for example: this surface is covered in scratches, its edges worn down by time. To someone else, it might look damaged or broken. But to me, it’s a masterpiece - proof of a life well-lived.
These spoons are a reminder that we don’t need to be “perfect” to be valuable. In fact, our imperfections are what make us truly one-of-a-kind.

What’s something imperfect in your life—an object, a memory, or even a part of yourself—that you’ve learned to love?

When I look at the worn spoons in my work, I don’t just see objects—I see symbols of survival. Their scratches, tarnish, and dents remind me of what it means to endure hardship, weather storms, and emerge even more beautiful for it.
Like these spoons, we all carry marks from our lives—physical or emotional—that tell the stories of where we’ve been and what we’ve overcome. These marks are not flaws; they’re badges of resilience.

Do you have something in your life—a personal “scar” or a well-loved object—that reminds you of your own strength?

Hit “comment” and share your story with me. I’d love to feature some of your reflections in an upcoming email.

Hi, I’m artist Donna Dufault, and I’m inviting you to rediscover the beauty in life’s imperfections. Do you want to feel more comfortable with yourself as you age gracefully? And does art that celebrates the beauty in imperfection speak to your heart?
If you answered ‘Yes,’ I’ve created a free guide just for you. It’s all about bringing peace and joy into your space by embracing simplicity and surrounding yourself with meaningful objects that resonate with you.
Studies show that clutter can raise stress levels and affect our mood, but clearing space and surrounding yourself with objects that bring you joy can help lower anxiety and create a calming environment. In this guide, I’ll show you how to bring this sense of peace into your home—and how it can help you see yourself through softer, kinder eyes.

In this new year, I wanted to take a moment to thank you. Together, we’ve explored the beauty of imperfection, celebrated the stories etched into worn spoons, weathered rocks, textured silver platters, and reflected on how these objects mirror our own lives. My hope is 2025 will bring you peace, joy, and the confidence to see yourself as you truly are: unique, beautiful, and worthy.

Please share: What is one thing you hope to embrace or create in 2025?

Here’s to a year of growth and grace!Cheers, Donna
